This cherry 1992 VW Cabriolet - featuring the iconic MkI (aka A1) body - has had a significant amount of work performed to make it quick & super nimble; this includes:

• Engine swap w/new motor mounts & exhaust
• Interior/exterior renovation
• Metallic gray paint
• Recoro front seats & reupholstered two-tone interior

The original 1.8L engine was replaced with an ABA short block 2.0, bored out to 2.1L. The engine swap was performed in May 2004, when mileage was 135,500. Since then, the car has been driven less than 5k miles; current mileage is 139,220.

Inside, the front seats have been replaced with Recaro sport seats, entire interior custom reupholstered, new door & window seals and new speakers installed. Additionally the suspension was redone to make the car ride very tight; it rides on rails, like a go kart!

Overall, I've invested on the order of $15k in this car since 2004. So why am I selling? I originally purchased the car with the purpose of rebuilding it for racing and autocross; that, and I'd always been a huge fan of the MkI Cabriolet. The car was rebuilt in 2005-06, and although I did race a half day at Thunderhill, haven't had time since and have only put ~5k miles on the car since then. These days I have scant time/interest in racing, and we really have no need for a second car, so for good or bad I'll be letting her go
