Volkswagen Multivan's suspension problem
Any owner or driver of a VW Multivan here?
This van is available in Australia and come in Comfortline and Highline version. A limited edition that was recently sold out looks like this here http://www.caradvice.com.au/6249/200...c-first-steer/ This edition has sports suspension as standard. Does you car has a standard or a sport suspension? Do you find the standard suspension a bit too soft? I am considering getting this car but during test drive I found the suspension to be rather soft. There is a lot of vertical movement when going through our poor road surface here. It is much more then my older sedan and wagon. It was so bad that sometimes I was actually feeling a bit of motion sickness. I am not familiar with a Multivan at all prior to the test drive. Would an optional sport suspension ($500 extra) alleviate this problem? I emailed the rep and he asked someone and got back to me on the phone and said that the Sports suspension has a stronger or heavier spring and the car is lowered by 2 cm. There would be less vertical travel in the suspension. With a lower centre of gravity there would also be less roll. Also if coupled with the existing 17" wheels then it would be a good fit. With larger wheels the suspension might be too stiff. I have to take the rep word with a grain of salt. They might say anything to get the sales. Thanks. |
