Changing starter all the time, Caravelle

The last year we have changed the starter on my VW Caravelle minibus 2,4 D (1996) four times. Something ais destroying the starter. Have anybody had the same problem ?

check the flywheel. It may be missing a tooth or something and tearing the starter gear. Is that what is getting messed up?

Thanks for the message. I `ve talked to VW norway and they say that this might be the proplem. It is an exspencive operation, so we are not shure yet...but thank you for the reply..

so that place you talked to said it might be a missing tooth also? Flywheels aren't bad just time consuming.

they said that if something was wrong with the flywheel it might cause problems with the starter. But now I`ve got my car back and the reasen why the starter was damaged was something wrong in the electric wiring. The fuse for delivering of fuel/ diesel has been changed a lot to, and the reasen for this is the same error in the electric wiring. Now I suppose the starter will be working for a longer time. Thank you for your replies. I `ve learned something new. As you might read, I am not a mechanic...
