92 Eurovan 2.5L stutter on stationary throttle or deceleration
My 92 Eurovan has a weird quirk. On the highway (usually) once I get up to speed (such as it is) and back off acceleration the engine will start to miss around 3,000 RPM. As long as I accelerate it's fine but keeping a steady throttle or on deceleration it misses.
I recently bought the van and converted it to a 5-speed from automatic and have only recently been driving it. It had a full tune-up with all the usual parts (cap, rotor, plugs, wires, filter). I've tried a new coil and distributor but it has me (and my mechanic friends) stumped.
I'm not 100% sure whether it's starving for fuel or missing spark.
One thing of note, the fuel filter was originally installed backwards then turned around.
I thought if anyone had a similar problem and found a fix you could let me know.
Other than this one quirk it starts up, idles and runs fine except for extended periods at around 3,000 RPM.
Cheers.
