80's 1.6l Rabbit Help
I recently bought a Dune buggy with a Gas Rabbit engine in it. The engine has a lot of engine work done to it but first I wanted to know if there is any Identification numbers on the block other then where it says "1.6" so I could get more information about the engine.
The engine smokes A LOT and I was thinking about changing the rings, I want to take it to the dunes for Memorial day so I was wondering if you think it can be done without other engine work, without honing and also without removing the head or doing any head work or replacing crank bearings. I know without honing the cylinders the rings will more than likely prematurely fail again but I'm contemplating taking that risk to keep it quick and simple but I didn't know if I would have any other negative side effects that I need to worry about
Thank you much
