Toluene as an octane booster...?

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of using toluene (or any similar products) as an octane booster?

Well, I've been using this stuff for afew months now and the gains are definitely noticeable. I feel a stronger low-end pull than before. I am also very impressed with the gained fuel mileage. Before I would get about 220-230 miles to a tank. Now, with one gallon of toluene to a tank, I'm getting 280-290 miles in town, which equates to 18 mpg up to 22 mpg in town. I'll keep posting my findings.

I have not experienced any negative effects of using Toluene in either my '03 Passat 1.8T or '08 R32. I stopped using Toluene a short time ago due to gas prices. Although using Toluene gave me noticeably higher gas milage, it's just too expensive to add to each tank. Both cars contiue to run, idle, accelerate just fine...no problems.

I think if I was racing I might use it, but other than that anything other than premium unleaded is just a waste...just an opinion.
