I also own an '03 Passat 1.8t tiptronic (as well as a MkV R32). As far as the Passat goes, I have gotten a bench flash from APR--www.goapr.com. Bench flash just means that you send the ECU into these guys instead of taking the whole car in. I did this about 8 months ago and have been VERY impressed. The site states 208 hp and around 245 torque. I can't attest that the torque is that high, but the hp gain is very noticeable. I paid around $400 for this. I also bought the security lock-out feature and the reset feature. I would not recommend these features, just cause I've never used them. If you take your car to a dealer they may be better used, but otherwise I recommend just getting the flash. Anyway, I have been very pleased with APR's upgrade for the Passat. Hope this helps.
