VW Touran battery?
Hi everyone.
I own a 2004 Touran 2.00tdi and think it is a fantastic car. However (there is always a however) it's had various intermittent electrical snags, most of which have just gone away.
The latest one however has the potential to leave me stranded so a bit of help is needed please. This fault has now occurred twice (about 6 weeks interval)
After driving at night until the engine is warm 15 miles plus and parking. On returning to vehicle within 2-3 minutes and starting it fails to start. The battery appears dead, all the warning lights come on the dash and it appears to lock me in. On the first occasion I returned to the car the next day. The first time I tried to start it the same happened. The second time it started and was ok until it happened again last night.
Last night I had driven 25 miles. On returning to car within 1-2 mins it failed to start. I pushed it 2-3 metres to put it somewhere more safe. Tried again and it was ok.
The battery may be tired. But I would have thought that driving it would have charged it up (alternator replaced 6 months ago). Before replacing battery I thought I would check alternatives. Could it be a loose connection on battery, earth or starter.
Any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks

Get the battery and charging system checked? A good cranking speed is essential for TDI engines.
