VR6, anything to know?

Ive just bought, but havent taken delivery of, a 95' VR6 highline. Is there anything i should know about VR6/volkswagen ownership?
i currently drive a magna, so im not scared of a bit of tlc, but is the 2.8 going to worry me with anything? Hows the gearbox? How long do the brakes last? are they hard to get?
What are service parts worth?

Check engine light comes on sometimes, and then goes away, I'm not too worried. You have a highline?? What is that exactly??

aparantly any mrk3 vr6 with leather is a highline.

no not really i have only had to replace a cam sensor but i have a 96 OBDII VR6, the gearbox's are great
