Replacing Catalytic Converter 98Beetle

Greetings All;

Would like some help in the steps/process for replacing Cat Converter on 98 Beetle.

Do I have to remove the plate(bridge) thats under the pipe leading to the manifold? or can I somehow turn it/twist it to clear for removal?
