Noob - 99 Jetta TDI
Hi guys, nice to meet you all.
Well it's been while since I owned a VW product.
Last VW was a '79 Sciroco. God I loved that little bugger. I was young and into driving like a psyco back then. It gave me many years of thrills.
Now married 16 years and 3 kids later, I am getting back in the pool with my newest aquisition. A 1999 Jetta TDI. I have an beautiful Infiniti Q45 (for sale BTW) but it was putting me in the poor house with it's 12MPG local/city. I was looking at so many new cars, but found this little gem sitting @ a Porsche dealer locally. They own a VW dealership up the block, and took it in on a trade for a 2006 Beetle. The former owner was insanely meticulous. I confiscated a notebook from the glove box that has a record of every tank of gas, quart of oil and service this car has had since the day it was delivered new to her.
I'm in love.
I will be asking for minor mods here and there. I don't know what you can really play with on the TDI. I wouldn't mind a few more ponys, especially when you are trying to merge on a NY highway. Here - when you put on your blinker and try to merge, they hit the gas, almost rear-ending the car in front of them that you don't get in front of them. I didn't care when I had 300 HP and 5000 lbs of steel in my Q, but the short ramps require a little more patience now.
I'd like to hear some of your suggestions.
