I purchased a used 2011 Tiguan SE from a dealer (not a Volkswagen dealer) with a known problem with the antenna. The car is white with a black antenna and someone had caulked the base with white caulking and did a poor job. The dealer "fixed" it and it looks perfect. The dealer did mention there was a wire that was not connected and they connected it. I got all FM stations I tried since that is mostly all I listen too but later discovered I have no AM. Also the Sirius didn’t connect but figured it was because I didn’t subscribe. We got a letter from Sirius saying our free trial will expire soon and after talking to Sirius they extended it another three months and sent an activation code. When I tried Sirius a message came up with the title "antenna" followed by "a problem has occurred" and it did not connect. I talked to the dealer I bought from and they said they can install a non obtrusive interior antenna for the sirius but AM will still not work. Before - oops is in line with a telephone pole After
What suggestions are out there as to what to do?
Is this something I can fix myself?
How do I remove the antenna and see what’s going on?
I saw a video of someone removing a head unit like mine and it had 3 antenna connections. Where do these 3 antenna connections go?
