Hello to everybody. I don't have a VW, but a friend just inherited a 2003 Beetle. It had been like new, but his brother parked, for years. it in an area that was prone to being damp.
The outside looks great, but the inside has broken parts and leather seat rot. Tires, body, and engine are great.
The battery was dead so, they bought a new one to get it home. Parked it over night and the battery was dead.
I charged it, got it started and looked for any obvious culprits. I couldn't see when I closed the glove box if the light went off so I popped it out and had enough wire to pull it out and close the box.\
It didn't go out so I pulled the bulb. We'll find out in the morning if that was the problem. Seems a little too simple to me.I looked for a switch, but didn't see any. How does it turn off when the box is closed?
Here's a pic of the light. Thanks.

My friend is 85 yrs old and does not have a computer and never has. I offered him and his wife one and show them how to use it, and they said no thank you.
I have been taking care of his 97 Chevy C1500 V8 5.7L Pickup, LT23460AWS Snapper Riding mower, and other power equipment and now a 2003 GLS Beetle, L4 2.0L.
