I've wanted a vw diesel for a while now, and stumbled on this one for $400 bucks. She's ugly, but runs like a fine swiss watch. The odometer is stuck at 215K miles. The previous owner thinks it has less than 300K miles on it.

The eventual plan is to put this engine into some other light american car.....like a chevy cavalier or something. Watched a youtube video of a guy that put a tdi in a chrystler mini-van and decided that i could do something like that.

The linkage to the trans is really sloppy which makes it really fun to drive. 2nd gear is the toughest one for me to find, sometimes i give up and just go from 1st to 3rd. Once i accidentally put it into reverse instead of 1st at a stoplight...that was a lot of fun when the light turned green! It makes me feel like a person who's never driven a manual trans before....but nearly every car i've owned is a stick.

she sure does start good. it was under 20*F last nite. i had a diesel mercedes that wouldn't start if you didn't plug it in....then sometimes it still wouldn't start! I've also had a few diesel full size school buses.
