Default In NEED of Experienced ADVICE QUICK!

Hey guys

Joined your forum to get some advice.

Got given a free 98 VW beetle.
5spd
2.0L
144xxxkm.....who knows is this is true.

Car has been in an accident, repainted.

The car seems to run pretty good. A little chuggy when its cold, but overal okay!

I just fixed the exhust, was broken at the header i guess, cost $500. through a trust worthy friend.

Im in the debate of keeping it to use at my everyday driver ( to get groceries and small stuff)

I just dont know how long its gonna last, or how much more money im gonna need to put in to it! Im in the proceses of finding out if the timing belt as been done or not.

I dont know anything about VW, and looking for some help! Sor far I love driving the beetle, and Im coming from driving a 300M Chrysler lol. Big change!

Thank you for any help you guys can give me.

Ty.
