Default Introduction

Hello Everyone

Registered on the forum a few weeks ago and
wanted to introduce myself.

My wife had a second gen Cabrio in the 90's and
has raved about how much fun it was and out of
all the cars she's had, this was by far, her favorite.

So I said . . . . we need another car like we need
a proverbial hole in the head, but if makes ya happy
let's at least look.

After some half-hearted looking, she got very serious
a few weeks back, which made me start looking too.

We found a one owner 1999 Cabrio GLS with 31,313
original miles. Garage kept and only driven on warm
summer days. No rust underneath, or anywhere else.

How many times will something like this come along?

Not very often, or maybe never again, so we bought it.

Just ordered the parts to replace the timing belt (it may
very well be 19 years old), plugs, wires etc.

We driven it about 1/4 mile and that's it until I get the
timing belt done.

That's our story for now and I appreciate being a part
of this forum.

Brian

Thanks for the welcome.

Perhaps I read the code sticker wrong,
so I attached it.

I have the 2.0 litre engine with the 4 speed
auto transmission.

If I should post different engine/transmission
codes in my signature, please let me know.

Thanks again for the welcome . . . . Brian

Keith

I am new to Volkswagen and I have no
idea what the codes mean.

What does it mean that I have an engine
code not seen before?

What does it mean that Type Code 1V73H3
isn't listed? For that matter, what is a type
code?

Is there a sticky or something else that
explains the codes?

Thanks . . . Brian

Ok I've added that to my ElsaWin database.

But that Type Code isn't listed 1V73H3.

1V73M3 Golf Cabriolet 2.0 ABA - 115PS DLZ - 4A
1V73Q3 Golf Cabriolet HighLine 2.0 ABA - 115PS DLZ - 4A
