2009 VW Jetta power steering red light
Hello,
Changed out my battery with a new one and now I have the power steering red light with no power steering. Car runs and drives with no
issues, but the power steering does not work. Is there a way to reset the power steering other than taking it to a VW dealer? From reading online a VCDS scanner is needed to update the programming. Seems like a crazy way to design a car. Got to be a way to resolve this other than using a dealer.

Welcome to the forum.
Its not an easy fault to diagnose on the web. If you have changed to battery disconnect one cable and refit. Drive to car around as it needs time to recalculate.
You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing.

Power steering warning red light
I found the issue. Turns out a rat managed to get up under my Dash and chewed into a few wires it's between the battery and the driver side headlight. I repaired the wires. It was actually 3 wires at the Gratitude into and the power steering started working thanks for the reply.

Not sure what happen with my previous post, but I found that a rat had chewed into three small wires located between the battery and drivers side headlight. Repaired the wires and the red warning light is now off.
