Default 1998 Cabrio Repair/Restore (1 Owner)

Hola!

No idea if this forum is actually active, but in the hopes that it is…

I have a 98 Cabrio GLS. I have also had several
other vehicles while owning the Cabrio and unfortunately the Cabrio has sat idle for a long time. Recently I decided to try to fix it. I have it to a mechanic who charged me $1900+ to replace all belts/hoses, flush fuel, replace fuel filter, car needed a new battery, and some tires before he would even work on it. He kept the car nearly 3 mos and i was stressed cos i was moving. Finally he said he was done. I went to pick it up. Moved like a week after. I am not a mechanic and assumed he did the work he said he did. I found out yesterday (nearly 2 years later) that he did not as it’s in the shop for a coolant leak and the mechanic said he had to
replace hoses. 🤬

Anyway my girl has lots of problems. The hydraulics for the top stopped working early on, so I left it a manual top cos the mechanic I had at the time didn’t want to go thru the hassle of finding the leak (he was a pita). Now tho, the top is totally ripped and will need to be replaced, but that is a low priority compared to everything else. Currently my car
leaks coolant and I am locked out of the trunk. My current mechanic is figuring out what he will need to replace the belts/hoses that go to radiator and any other things like that he thinks need to be replaced, but we are having no luck figuring out how to get into
the trunk, which is why I am here.

I guess now i have to go to the help part of the forum and post there too. I hope someone will have an easy fix for the trunk issue that doesn’t require me drilling holes in the trunk deck. 🤞

Thanks for your time.

M

Took my girl for a spin. She needs A LOT of work, but her engine is still solid. 👍
