Default 1997 VW Jetta GT missing glove box...suspicious??

I just test drove a '97 Jetta GT and it was in great shape, ran really well but what i found suspicious was that the glove box was missing. There was just a full panel across it. There is not storage tray or anything. i had a '96 jetta that had a glove box and a storage underneath. Does this mean anything? i haven't made an offer yet but it looks suspicious. Help i'm meeting with him tomorrow!!!!! Also..... the doors when you open and close them have a point when they kind of hesitate. He told me it hasn't been in an accident, motor etc. looks great. Am i getting dooped???

The doors probably just need some grease. I can't tell you if it's been wrecked from here so just look for any paint that doesn't match or gaps in the bodywork panels and you can knock on the panels and if it sounds kind of like a thud it's probably repaired with bondo. As for the glove box I wouldn't worry about it. Does it look like a factory panel? Someone may have just been too cheap to buy a new glove box. What engine does it have and how much is he asking for it?
