Unhappy 01 Beetle Electrical

I have a 2001 Beetle. Something is draining the battery when I first bought it I was told of the problem but when I took out the old and didnt work stereo I never had a problem I have installed a new stereo (after market) and battery has drained several times. HELP!!

You need to disconnect a main battery cable and connect an ammeter in series to measure the current draw with everything switched off. Then remove each fuse one by one and see if the current draw drops. If it does the drain is on that circuit (get a fuse circuit diagram). Any current draw of more than 0.5 amps isn't good, this will also depend on how good the battery is.

You maybe better of using a clamp meter.
