I think you've got an aftermarket block or the code was misread. The production VW engines never used a 9 digit number followed by a letter. They were generally 7-9 characters with the the first one or two characters being the letters.

The code you provided looks more like a chassis number.

Starting in 1965 engines for all types were proceeded by a letter or two and before that they had no more than 6 digits.

211-101-102e is a part number
most type 2 parts start with 211
type 1 311 or 111

RE: vw trike engines

I need some similar info. I have a trike with a 1969 VW engine and chassis and am trying to get a title. Does the engine number bear any similarity to the VIN or chassis number? I have good title to the chassis, but the engine number is different and the state wants proof of title to the engine.
