Vanagon No Start
 

I have an 86 Vanagon that was running just fine, until today. It started fine, ran fine, then all of a sudden i was driving about 60km/h when it sputtered twice, then died. Now it turns over and sounds like it wants to start but will not. I can smell fuel after cranking it for a while, but have not done any other checking.
Can anyone suggest what I should look at first?
