Default SIDE MARKER INSTALLATION

Hey guys,

own a '99 V6 passat. just bought some pretty cool new clear/smoked side marker (fender) lights on ebay. I didnt get them yet, but I started thinking.. how the heck do you change them. I looked at the car and, best I can figure, you go in through the wheel well, unscrew the plastic sheilds and reach blindly up into the car. That sounds like a pain in the neck, so before I pull apart my wheel well, i wanted to see if any one had done this or had any tips on how to swap them out. My brother has a '99 TDI Jetta and i think it would be done in the same way if any jetta drivers have done it to there car

Default RE: SIDE MARKER INSTALLATION

whoa whoa whoa.... NO! If its anything like the golfs, which is exactly like the jetta. NO! all you do is push in on the light on one side or the other, one will give, i think its the end to the front. its spring-loaded in there, basically you push that side down, then slide the whole light assembly inside diagonally, enough to clear the small track it fits in and then you can pull the whole thing right out. seeing the new one will help you understand the way the spring thing works. There is no going in from the back. It should be the same
