how can I tell the difference between a 163bhp V6TDI and a 150bhp V6TDI other than driving. Parkers claims that the 163 version came out in 03 onwards but there are many 01 / 02 passats advertised as 163 which i'm they're not. Is there any way when going to view one that I can confirm it is a 163 ?

Well you definitely won't notice a 13hp difference by driving....check the manual or do a search on the VIN...

 

yep thats true - iirc the 163bhp version knocks out about 258ftlbs of torque, and the 150bhp is 228 ft lbs which is the same as the 1.9PD 130 !! so its worth hanging out for the 163 for the extra torque if I can find one !! I know VW have a thing about using red letters in the model which can give away the version so I was wondering if the 163 had different lettering to the 150 ?
