Default No Reverse

Regarding 2000 jetta, 1.8T, manual 5-speed.

I recently replaced the radiator and it all worked out. Unfortunately I managed to create another problem... the car will not go into reverse anymore. Coincidental or not?

All the other gears are fine and the car drives well but for some reason I can't get the car into reverse while the engine is on or off. Gears 1-5 are solid and responsive with no symptoms of slippage, noise, etc. So what happened?

Did I bend a linkage cable? Is it simply coincidence that the clutch went out that day?

The dealer said the clutch is old and worn and needs to be replaced. Does that make any sense? Can a clutch assembly only impact reverse and not impact the others?

You feedback is appreciated.

Dealerships, just want to rip off people. Try getting a second opinion. But if your mechanically inclined, try checking the linkage cable and I'm pretty sure is adjustable. I will try to get you instructions on how to get it adjusted. Also, try checking your trans. fluid level.
