K&N drop in filter =check engine light?

What up all?My wife and I just dropped a K&N drop in filter into our 2000 1.8t ,drove it about 20 miles and the next day the check engine light engaged? Can it be cause of the increase of air flow? The old filter had some sort of prefilter on it,but the k&n one didn't.I really didn't think that would be the issue, but I am insecure. The car runs fine, just the light being on is weird.Any ideas of what it may be are greatly appreaciated.Thanks-ed

I thought this filter might be the issue cause of the increased air flow{ vehicle running a bit leaner, fuel wise},but I am not sure. Can a drop in filter really be that much of a difference from stock? Also,I read somewhere in this forum that even low windshield washer fluid might make the light engage. Is this true, cause the car is low on fluid? What should I do to make the light turn off?I don't want to risk the radio getting locked up cause of the battery cutoff to reset the ecu? Thanks a million for any help!
