Default Help: Changing headlights.

Hello everyone,

I have a 01 GTI. My headlights recently went out. I went to my dealership (Desert Volkswagen in Las Vegas) to see if they can replace it. After finding out that they were going to charge me ~ $240 just to change both my headlights I decided that I would just try to install it myself. I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to do it. I don't know much about cars so any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Also, if you guys were wondering why the $240, here is the breakdown:

$107 for "headlight diagnostic"
$70 for each headlight installed

keep in mind, that the bulb itself is ONLY $25.

Thanks again.

Default RE: Help: Changing headlights.

what a rip...sorry I can't help you though.. I know some about 1956 to 1969.. anything after that is really beyond me.. I would buy a repair manual and see if you can do it yourself.. with my bug it is just one screw and you unplug it and plug in a new one.. Volkswagen is suppose to mean "peoples' car" so we can repair them ourselves.. to bad that changed.. [:@]
