Default Heater Fan Switch

I have a 1987 Vanagon and Driving in today I noticed that my heater switch is acting funny. When I turn up the fan, i sometimes have to push in on the switch for it to run the fan. Then after a few seconds I let it go, the fan shuts off, then it starts and runns fine.

I have read in the past that there are common problems with blower motors on these and that it is a big job to replace them. Does anyone think that this may be the fan or the switch?

Default RE: Heater Fan Switch

Had a similar switch problem on a 99 Beetle. The metal contact inside the switch assembly somehow came loose and was bent.Like anydashboard, there are quite a nuber of screws to take out to get to the switch behind the panel.
