forgot to replace coolant cap
Hi,
I did something really stupid yesterday: I topped up the coolant and then forgot to replace the cap. I drove about ten minutes. Now the car will not start; when I turn the key it will not turn over. I put the cap back on and refilled the coolant again. I'm hoping that the car will not have been overheated by the short drive. I will bring it to a mechanic, but does anyone have any idea about what could be the problem? Is there a sensor that could be preventing it from starting, or could there be electrical short somewhere? Or will it have head/gasket damage? Thanks for your help Jetta GL 1993 (old car but is (was) in great shape) |
Apparently it is the starter motor, not damage from the engine over-heating. Don't know why it would fail at this time, would hardly be coincidental you'd think. Anyway, thanks to everyone who took a look here; good luck to anyone who's done the same thing.
