Female about to buy a '97 Jetta GT. What are the major problem areas I should have checked out? 93,000 miles Black on Black 4cyl. 5spd.

eletrical is a big thing, also that the engine is running smothly, and as far as rust and stuff goes check under the doors on the under body side (looking is not goo enough you will have to feel and push because there is a thick coating under there)

Not to turn you away cause every car is different, but my friend has a 97 Jetta and he works on it fixing something at least once or twice a month. If it was well maintained and not hot rodded then you should be ok.

Still totally stiock, buying from a single mother. Clean inside and out. All maintence was done at the dealer. Picked it up last night!
