Default Dealership said ECM was fried

I have a 02 GTI. I was replacing one of the coil pack connector, and when I finished the car wouldnt start. It cranks just fine but wont turn over. I took it to VW and they said I friend my ECM. Is it possible that I might have wired the connector wrong? Or is it possible that one of the bare wire was touching the valve cover, and when I turned the key it fried it? Im just trying to figure out what all i need to replace before taking it back to VW to have the new ECM reprogrammed. Thanks.

It is possible you could have spiked the ecu if you touched the live with another wire. this would only happen if the ignition was on.

Is it possible that if 2 of the bare wires from the connector were touching and when i connected the battery, or when i turned the ignition over it could have spiked? Because the car was running before i changed that one connector?

It is possible this could have happened. It is also possible to happen if the wires are in the wrong positions. Have you checked the fuses and the rely. What engine go you have?
