Code P0544 (EGT) Exhaust Gas Temperature Problems
 

I have parked my 2005 2.0 Jetta in the garage and had it under as blanket for the last 6 months. When I started it up the other day, the check engine light came on and the code that reads is P0544 (EGT) Sensor malfunction. I replaced the sensor and the check engine light was still on. I reset the check engine light went off but when I restarted the vehicle, it turned back on. I read the code again and it came up as P0544......Lost and frustrated will anyone help me?

Hi Ables,
My father's 2008 VW Passat 2.0 TDi also stayed in his garage for around 2-3 months and hasn't been started\driven during that time.
When he eventually got to drive it again, both the engine and the glow (the twirly light shaped like a pig's tail) lights came on his dashboard.
I plugged in an OBDII Bluetooth device to his car and using the Torque app, was able to retrieve the P0544 error code.
Obviously, we would like to fix the issue at a minimal cost so I was wondering if you could share what remedial action(s) you undertook to fix the issue you experienced.
