broken lock cylinder - how to disengage alarm?
Hey so here is the situation,
I'm leaving my car and go to lock it, the lock cylinder loop on the backbreaks and spins around and when I go to remove the key the cylinder comes out (I hear this is somewhat common) The doordid NOT lock, but the alarm engaged so when I open the door I'm greeted by 4 minutes of honking and the inability to start my car is there any way to turn off the alarm so I can still drive the car around? the passenger side lock cylinder fell out and is lost from previous owner and the Trunk lock has been seized for a while now. My thoughts were to jam a flat-head screwdriver in there and turn left to try and hit the unlock but I'm not sure if that will just cause more problems is there any way I can disengage the alarm so I can still drive the car around until I get to fixing it? Thanks, |
RE: broken lock cylinder - how to disengage alarm?
I'll answer myself,
I went out with a pointed tool -clothes hanger with a 45 degree bend at the end I pushed it in as far as I could where the lock cylinder used to be, fiddled, poked and prodded around until I heard the whir of the power locks the alarm system disengaged and I can go home now |

ya a long screwdriver works great
never thought of a hanger but that works to |
