boost controler
i was installing a manual boost controller on my 2005 vw gli, the first time i started it the check engine and traction control light came on. i fixed that problem, but when putting a boost controller on do you have to flash the computer to allow it to accept the high volumes of boost. After pushing about 12 to 14 pounds of boost the comp. shut all the boost off and i cant be having that. if any one knows what i can do to fix the problem please let me know i want to up the boost to around 25

RE: boost controler
You shouldn't have to flash your computer for boost.
Though I dont' recommend 25psi, unless you built the car for that application. I notice a lot of you guy's fail to mention whether or not it's a stock turbo setup. List your mods or lack of, you can't give a decent response for an unknown system. |
RE: boost controler
thanks for the help, i dont really have any mods done right now except for the appearance of the vehicle but i did find out that i do have to flash my computer to allow more boost and my tech has already ordered the program to do so. But thanks for the response

RE: boost controler
Yea I just realized I misread your original post.
I also suppose you have large injectors in there already if you can push 14psi. It's all about air/fuel, which in all new cars is controlled by the computer...meh. Might wanna consider finding a local guy who does tuning for VW turbo's, base profiles are great but to get every ounce out you're going to have to tune it a couple times to find the right spot that your turbo loves. btw I don't know if I mentioned this already but when you crank that boost way up, watch your tranny keep an eye on tranny temp (fluid color as well) with gauge or diagnostic tool. |
RE: boost controler
is there a waste gate "trick" to up the boost a little?
|
RE: boost controler
Not to my knowledge. It's simply to regulate the
amount of exhaust gases into the turbo so I don't see how there would be any "tricks". More exhaust, more boost, -Jeff |
