Default 2007 jetta 2.5 cold engine idle

Hello.
I just purshaded a 2007 jetta 2.5l.
I noticed that even if the temperatue outside is 100 here in Phoenix AZ the idle is kind of high for about 20 seconds or so.The car came from California and I'm wondering since they have diferent emissions there if that migh have something to do with it or is it normal on all VW, this is my first VW so I'm not sure.If I start the engine after it warmed up it will not do that untill it sits for several hours,no matter what the outside temp is,85 or 110.
Thanks.

That seems to be a common characteristic of the 2.5L engine. It will sound like it has a high rev and the fan is working super hard then it chills out and goes to a somewhat more mellow idle. Shouldn't have to worry about that too much. You don't have any check engine lights or anything that would indicate a problem, right?
