Exclamation '03 jetta wagon 1.8T- leaking oil

Thought it was the oil pan gasket. Replaced the factory sealant with a Felpro gasket & Yamabond. The new gasket has sealed fine, but there is still leaking from above on the front / oil cooler side (as I had suspected). I see a fresh oil droplet on the side of the oil cooler, when looking up under the car, and possibly oil dripping from a hard line to the cooler (? - can't see up there very well). I can't see anything from the engine compartment (because of all the crap on this engine 1.8T). Any suggestions on finding the problem. Old VWs used to have bad oil coolers. Are they still having these problems? I have 180K miles now. Good running car, but excessive leakage (1 qt. oil added every 2 tanks of petrol). I'm thinking about swapping out the oil cooler and possible valve cover gasket, but I thought I would ask a few questions on what / where to look, before tearing things apart. Anyone out there who has had these oil leaking problems?????
