Default Vag-Com?

Hello everyone I have a 2000 Jetta GLI Vr6, recently my emission workshop light/check engine light came on. I would like to scan it myself with this vag-com you guys are talking about. With this can I monitor output pid's? I know I need a cable will one of these work? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/USB-O...#ht_4498wt_939 How many different softwares are out there? Where can I get them? Thanks in advance.

Yeah, it should work... You also, need a computer. But, a regular scanner could check for any codes, that you have right now...

P Code ChartsDTC P0412 - P0420First, check the wires from both O2 sensors. But, it seems like one of the O2 sensors is dead.

VAG Error Code: 16804
EOBD II Error Code: P0420

Fault Location:
Catalytic converter system, bank 1 - efficiency below threshold

Possible Cause:
Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) No Emission Fault - No warning light.
Catalytic converter.
Wiring.
Heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) 2.

Possible Solutions:
Check for exhaust leaks at the manifold, pipes, catalytic converter. Repair as required.
Use a scope to diagnose the oxygen sensor operation (Tip: The oxygen sensor in front of the catalytic converter normally
has a fluctuating waveform. The waveform of the sensor behind the converter should be more steady).
Inspect the downstream heated oxygen sensor (HOS2), replace if necessary.
Replace the catalytic converter.

Special Notes:
For 1.8T's experiencing this fault code, this thread may be useful: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=663057
