Just wondering
Hello all,
So recently i purchased a 97 golf gl. Runs great and a really fun ride. but i was wondering if anyone knew why there would be a green switch on the temperature control panel. I've searched the internet with no results

that's a picture of the switch. I've flipped the thing several time but it does nothing.
Also there's a cable in the hatch

i have no idea where that goes to either.

I don't know about the cable in the hatch, but the green switch is definitely something a previous owner added to the car. It was probably used to control an aftermarket device that is no longer in your car.
I believe all the cars sold in the US just have a blank space there like this car:

I agree with CheesyRider. I also haven't seen any such switch on the controls and I also rather think that it would have had been used for the thing which would have been used as a sort of mods. I guess like that of the additional fog lights or something else like that. I also think that any professional mechanic would easily figure it out what is it related to.
