Curious car start-up issue
Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this: I put the keys in the ignition, the dashboard lights turn on - the car is powered - I turn the ignition, the car begins to start up but then turns off as if it loses power, the dashboard lights turn off and the speed/odometer meter arrows flail about...and then power returns, dashboard icon lights return. Oh, and then my alarms starts going off as it always does when power is lost and then reconnected.
Yeah, I'm not sure what's going on. Any takers? Much obliged for any input.

Welcome to the forum.
It would help if we knew more details about you motor.

They can suffer from the faulty 109 relay but that wouldn't account for the dash lights going off. The 109 relay is the main power feed to the ecu. With that faulty 109 relay you can crank it all day and it won't start. If you have a 109 relay when always carry a spare in the car as they can go at any time and you'll be stuck at the side of the road.
Does it only start for 1 second then shut off? That normally means the immobilizer is active but the immobilizer should also be on in the dash.
Just check all connections and fuses.
