My mk1 cabrio's speedometer is broken: Are MK1 cabrio and Mk2 hardtop golfs instrument panels interchangeable? They look quite the same

looking alike does not mean one will work the same as the other is doing

 

I like to think you could interchange this but your mileage would be off. Exchanging with the same year most likely will always work.

I just found the coolest thing..... Heads UP MPH display. It displays on the windshield and uses GPS to determine your speed. I found mine at Amazon for about 69 bucks. It plugs into the Cig lighter so you can use it in most any of your other cars as well. Just a thought, Cool idea.
