Saved from the crusher
Hi everyone
Just bought my 1st VW. An 85 Cabby convertible. I own a towing business. Got a call from a regular customer. He bought the car from a guy for mostly scrap. Had a new tranny, clutch and top that he was going to take off and scrap the rest. When I picked it up it ran good for me. The body was perfect, paint was fairly good, not great and interior was ok. Has a fuel system problem. Told my customer what a shame I thought it was to crush it, seemed like it wouldn't take much to make it a pretty good car. 3 hours after I left he called me to ask if I wanted to buy it. We haggled for a bit and I got it for what he paid for it, $200, plus a couple free tows. Happy to own it and save it from the crusher. In my garage right now and working on getting the bugs out.
