Hello
Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. I currently do not own any VW but I am looking for a replacement car for my wife's 2001 Olds Alero (yea I know but it was given to us) but I am seriously looking at Volkswagens again especially the Jetta and Passat. It won't be new but looking at maybe 2008-2012 not too many miles maybe under 75,000, the Olds has 160,000 on it so in that respect I guess it would be new lol. I am also attracted to the Golf,GTI but hard to find decent ones here in South Louisiana. I am looking for any tips, suggestions, what to look out for, and what to stay away from while I am looking around. Wife not exactly warm to the idea of a VW and I am not sure why I have decided to add them to my short list. Maybe flashback to my youth because my very 1st car was a 1966 VW Karman Ghia back in 1975 when I first started driving. Yes I know, if I knew then what I know now I would have never traded the car. Anyway, hoping to learn a lot here so any advise is welcome.

Are thinking about a Passat, Jetta petrol or diesel?

Well I am leaning more toward the Jetta but I like the Passat as well. Either way my preference is petrol. Should I buy one I will most likely use it as my daily driver. I commute to work about 65 miles round trip. We also have a 2005 Nissan Altima that I am using as my daily driver but my wife will most likely use the Nissan when we buy another car. Later on we will most likely get something new but really want something to replace the Oldsmobile.
