Key fob re code ?
Went to my local VW dealer today to have a secondhand three button keyfob (which I bought off eBay) re coded to work with my 2003 Passat TDI.They informed me that they could not fully code it up as the transponder is set at the factory to work with the car it was issued to and cannot be altered.The only thing they did do was to get it to lock/unlock the doors.So I now have a keyfob that will work the locking mechanism, but will not start the car !
My question is, are they telling me the truth or are they trying to get more money out of me by getting me to buy a new transponder and key blade ?
